Sydenham Garden Resource Centre, Lewisham
The Charity has made a £25,000 contribution from its Lewisham PCT Fund towards the Sydenham Garden charity.
The charity supports a community project providing gardening, nature conservation and creative opportunities for local people with health problems, particularly those suffering from mental ill health, providing a place where people can gain confidence and self-esteem through work and community. They are currently fundraising towards a target of £229,763 to build a headquarters.
The new resource centre will be a single storey, multi-functional Garden Building, made available to the local community for activities as well as to the charity. The building will house the charity's offices and be a venue for training in horticulture, arts and crafts and conservation.
Dr Jim Sikorski, Chair of Trustees for the Sydenham Garden charity, said: “The Charity’s award has taken us a step closer to making the Garden Building a reality. We are always grateful for the generous contributions made by our partners, clients and the public and look forward to their support in helping us provide facilities to benefit the whole community.”
