Wedding bells ring in changes for Blundell Ward

At their wedding ceremony in December 2007 Tim and Katy asked their guests to make donations to Blundell Ward at Guy's Hospital in lieu of gifts.

Their incredible generosity came about as a result of Tim's treatment on the ward for bone cancer. Diagnosed in 2005 with an osteo sarcoma on the mandible, Tim underwent reconstructive surgery to remove the tumour early in 2006, and spent 3 weeks on the ward recovering.

Tim said: "During this time I received excellent care and attention from all the doctors and staff who helped me through recovery and rehabilitation. I had subsequent surgeries at Guys and have always received the same excellent care that I have come to associate with the hospital."

During his treatment Tim's family spent a lot of time on Blundell Ward, visiting on a daily basis and waiting for him to come out of surgery. He said: "I wanted to raise some money to thank the staff for their care of both me and my family during what was a very difficult and emotional time." Their guests contributed an incredible £3,435.
