Hydro Active Women's Challenge

In September Dorothy King joined 30,000 other women runners who took part in the annual Hydro Active Women's Challenge in London and Birmingham.

Power walking the 5km in London's Hyde Park, Dorothy finished in 50 minutes, a personal best that beat her last year's time and raised £200 in sponsorhsip.

She was inspired to run the race for the Charity after having been diagnosed with breast cancer in 1985. She had a successful lumpectomy at the Headley Atkins Unit followed by five weeks of radiotherapy, and returns to the hospital periodically for check ups and precautionary X-rays.

Dorothy said: "I have everything to thank the staff at Guy's for and this is my way of doing so.

"The race is great fun and you feel so proud that all these women are raising money for all sorts of charities - some very personal and some for family or friends. I had several friends taking part and family and friends cheering us on. The atmosphere was great, it was a very emotional day and a very worthwhile one."
