Evelina Appeal: Community Fundraising
Millwall F.C charity collection
Generous Millwall and Leyton Orient fans dug deep and donated more than £1,800 to Appeal volunteers before kick off at their match in March.
Local people, family and friends of Evelina patients gave up their time to raise money for neonatal services at the children's hospital, rattling buckets at Millwall's ground 'The Den' and collecting at pubs across Bermondsey and Rotherhithe before the game.
The Appeal would like to thank Millwall FC, all the local pubs who gave them permission to collect on their premises and F A Albins for donating a driver.
Pub charity nights
The Jolly Gardner Pub in Bermondsey has been fundraising for the Appeal for over 10 years, collecting a massive £10,000. Regulars opted to support their local children’s hospital and have been collecting through raffles and coin stacks on the bar.
Staff and customers at The Kings Arms Pub in Grays, Essex were kept busy over the August Bank Holiday weekend raising £1,000 in aid of the Evelina Appeal. The fun included a 50's/ 60's night, disco, hog roast, auction and fun day. The events were held in memory of young Jay Boreham who was a patient at the Evelina.
The landlord and regulars of The Mawbey Arms in South Lambeth held two charity nights featuring karaoke, a disco and a charity auction and raised £2,919. In addition to this, the darts team at the pub holds regular charity matches with Bromley Fire Brigade’s Blue Watch. They have raised £615 for the Appeal and plan to hold more matches in the future.
