Project intentions:
Funding of £350,000 was granted to support a capital project to enhance the work of the Cicely Saunders Institute of Palliative Care, a partnership between King’s College London and Cicely Saunders International. The funding supplements considerable fundraised support for the creation of a physical centre for the Institute. The Institute brings together academics, healthcare professionals, community organizations, patients and carers in a centre of excellence dedicated to quality research to improve the care and treatment of all patients with progressive illness and to make high quality palliative care available to everyone who needs it. The centre will work closely with Guy’s and St Thomas to develop clinical research which can be translated into improved patient services.
