Project summary: A three year award worth £500,000 will contribute to the infrastructure costs of establishing a critical care translational research methods centre at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust which will be supported by the Biomedical Research Centre for the Trust and King’s College London. The Adult Critical Care Service provides for around 5000 critically ill patients a year and the aim of this project is to carry out research into issues such as organ failure and prevalence of sepsis (blood poisoning) amongst the patient group to translate learning directly into patient care to try and hopefully reduce morbidity rates.
