Transplantation refurbishment
Location: Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust / King's College London
Award: £1.2 million
Award date: May 2008
Project intentions: An investment of £1.2 million over three years is supporting translational research in the field of transplantation. The improvements will enhance the capacity of the MRC Centre for Transplantation by creating new lab space on the 5th floor of the Bermondsey and Southwark Wings at Guy’s Hospital. The Centre undertakes a variety of research projects, for example looking at how deaths due to transplant rejection can be reduced. The new facilities will enable further research programmes by accommodating new staff. The new space will include wet and dry lab space, and a ‘graduate quarter’ including a meeting space - where post graduate researchers from different facilities can discuss their work.
