Translational Research programme 2010/2011
Call for applications (page 1 of 2)
Applications are invited for research projects and fellowships that support the Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT)/King's College London (KCL) Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) and/or the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM)/KCL Biomedical Research priorities.
Guy’s and St Thomas’ Charity’s translational research grant programme aims to support the translation of fundamental basic and clinical research findings towards patient benefits. It will fund pre-clinical and clinical projects aiming to develop novel therapeutic interventions, diagnostics and devices but it will not fund basic biomedical discoveries, such as biomarker identification.
Early stage clinical studies for a new therapeutic/ diagnostic/device/public health intervention (or a new indication for an existing intervention) will be supported. Such studies should be aimed at proof of concept. Funded projects will target significant and unmet health needs by improving prevention, diagnosis, prognosis, or treatment of patients, or by the development of research tools that increase the efficiency of the development of such interventions.
Applications should focus on one or more of the research priorities and the cross cutting themes/disciplines of either of the Centres. Additional weighting will be given to applications that span the research activities of both Centres.
