The Charity has identified three priority areas for research and
development undertaken by member organisations within King's Health
Partners (KHP):
- Guy's and St Thomas' Charity Prize PhD programme - funding of
£5 million has been awarded to the King's Bioscience Institute
(KBI) to support a four-year PhD Programme in Biomedical and
Translational Science. The funding will support 40 PhD students,
with recruitment for the first 10 starting this year. There will be
a particular focus on research in immunology, genetics,
neurosciences and biophysics/cell biology. The KBI has issued a
call for projects from principal investigators.
- Supporting the recruitment of world leading academics
- Pump priming new research ideas to secure follow up funding for
more detailed investigation
With the exception of the PhD research fund, work is now
underway with KHP to develop the funding application and management
process.
