Modernisation Initiatives:

• End of Life Care - In 2008, the Charity earmarked a total of £4.5million to improve End of Life Care in Lambeth and Southwark over three years. The programme is looking at how organisations can work together to improve the end of life experience for older people by enabling them to die with dignity in an environment of their choice.


• Diabetes - A new Modernisation Initiative will be launched in 2010 focusing on the prevention, detection and treatment of diabetes across south east London. £4.5 million has been set aside towards the programme until 2013.

Guy's and St Thomas' Innovation Fund for Technology Transfer (GIFTT):

• GIFTT is a joint programme that was launched in 2008 with Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust to identify and nurture concepts or new devices or gadgets that could revolutionise an area of healthcare.
