What to do after death guidance

Practical advice on what to do after death has been created for GPs and community healthcare staff in Lambeth and Southwark, by professionals working to improve end of life care.

The pocket-sized ‘What to do after death guidance’ from the Modernisation Initiative End of Life Care Programme has been developed for healthcare staff when they are first to arrive at the scene of a death. It contains contact numbers, including coroner information and bereavement support.

The guide sets out what to do with medication as well as patient considerations, such as spiritual beliefs and preferences for after death care.
