In July 2016, we became an accredited Living Wage Employer. This means we are committed to paying our staff and contractors the real Living Wage, which is updated every year according to the cost of living.
Paying the Living Wage has well documented benefits, including improved productivity and retention, as well as team morale and reputational value. We also believe it is the right thing to do.
In October 2018, we officially became a Living Wage Funder. This commits us to helping the organisations we support through our funding to pay the real Living Wage, and to encouraging them to become Living Wage employers themselves.
Across the UK, one in four working people earns below the Living Wage and the average hourly pay in the third sector is lower than the private and public sectors. We believe it is important that we help address this inequality as part of our commitment to being a responsible funder.
