Guy's and St Thomas' Bright Ideas Fund
Boosting and supporting innovation with commercial potential
The Bright Ideas Fund has been developed in partnership with colleagues at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust to support and invest in innovative ideas with commercial potential originating within the Trust.
Projects supported through the Bright Ideas Fund can be anything from healthcare-related software to medical devices or business plans for spin-out companies. Anyone who works at the Trust with an innovation, invention or idea can apply.
The Fund, which builds on the successful Guy's and St Thomas' Charity Innovation Fund for Technology Transfer (GiFTT), is managed directly by the IP and Commercial Research Directorate at the Trust.
What the Bright Ideas Fund is for
We have a broad scope but some of the areas of innovation the Fund may invest in include:
- Diagnostics (from imaging to kits)
- Medical devices
- Monitoring equipment and instrumentation
- Imaging
- Software
- Assistive technologies and mechanical aids
- Simulators or training aids
- Drug delivery
- Telehealth, and any technology designed to
enable the remote management of health
conditions - Diagnostic scales and psychometric tests,
PROM tools - Training or eLearning programmes with
commercial potential - Repurposing of licenced drugs, specials and
other therapeutic agents, as well orphan
drug development
