Funding for staff

We’re proud of hundreds of years of looking forward and funding projects to support exceptional care.

Our funding opportunities

We offer access to funding for projects benefitting services at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.

This includes projects which are Trust wide or which focus on projects which are not specifically for the benefit of children, people with cancer or maternity services (with the exception of maternity bereavement). For these areas please go to Evelina London Children’s Charity and Guy’s Cancer Charity.

Any projects proposed for funding must clearly translate to a benefit to patients at Guy’s and St Thomas’.

To access funding, you must be a member of staff at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, including those holding honorary contracts.

How we fund

There are few ways in which we award charitable funding to projects at Guy’s and St Thomas’.

Staff can apply for funding through open application. In this process, the charity asks staff to submit ideas for funded projects as part of a themed call out. Read on to find out how to stay informed about these call outs.

On occasion, and where the charity is aware of an area of work that directly aligns with our funding strategy, the charity will directly invite staff to submit an application for funding.

We also have Special Purpose Funds (SPFs). These are funds donated to us for a specific purpose and are controlled by fundholders. SPFs are used to support a range of activities across Guy’s and St Thomas’, which include investment in education, patient care, equipment, research and staff wellbeing. Discover our list of SPFs or get in touch if you have any questions.

Funding call outs

Stay informed about future funding call outs

There are no active funding call outs currently at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Charity. When a funding call out is open, details of how to apply will show here.

Our funding call outs are open intermittently. These will be focused on specific areas of care, or will invite projects that address specific challenges. For more information, you can view our general eligibility criteria for funding.

Project management resources

We can’t guarantee that your project idea will align with one of our funding opportunities, but we are keen to support the development of the best work at Guy’s and St Thomas’.

You can find some helpful project management resources, provided by the Centre for Innovation, Transformation and Improvement (CITI) when you log in to The College of Healthcare Learning Hub (COHLH).
