We are funding a pilot programme that will offer tailored support to new digital health ventures.
We have partnered with Bethnal Green Ventures (BGV), a well-established accelerator programme for people who want to change the world by using technology. BGV takes very early stage digital companies and, through a structured curriculum and peer mentoring and support, turns them into ventures that can attract investment. Over the last four years, BGV has developed one of Europe’s leading programmes for supporting digital social ventures, including digital health companies like medical appointments messaging system DrDoctor and online healthy eating programme OurPath.
Our grant of £40,000 will help BGV develop a package of additional support for three new digital health ventures that are taking part in its accelerator programme this autumn. The package will provide sector-specific advice, including working with NHS commissioning process, and access to clinical information programmes. It will also give the new ventures support from mentors and connect them with relevant networks within hospitals, patients as well as other digital health start-ups in Southwark and Lambeth.
The partnership is part of our ongoing work in digital health and will link up these BGV start-ups with other digital health entrepreneurs located in our new incubator, Health Foundry, and those taking part in the pan-London Digitalhealth.london accelerator programme.
