Addressing major health issues through carefully constructed programmes of work
Some of the biggest health challenges in Lambeth and Southwark are also issues of national and international importance, from obesity to poor mental health.
We’re currently working on two issues: reducing childhood obesity and improving the health and care of people with multiple long-term conditions. We chose these because they are prevalent in our areas, complex in nature, and of interest beyond our boroughs. We will explore others in the coming years.
Over the next decade, we plan to put around £250 million into improving health and healthcare in Lambeth and Southwark. We want to hear from anyone with good ideas.
Our first two programmes, on childhood obesity and multiple long-term conditions, are now in development. We want to hear from anyone with an idea, a project, insight or resources to help us meet these challenges head on.
Our programmes are setting out to tackle big problems and their root causes, strike the best partnerships and support ideas, big and small, that can make a real difference.
In approaching a new programme, we ask ourselves some key questions:
Why is this an issue?
Where do we come in?
What difference can we make?
What’s already working?
Who can help us?
