Strategy Advisory Group

Our Strategy Advisory Committee is made up of multi-disciplinary, national experts who help us to focus on impact, to derive insight and lessons from our work and to effectively influence others to act.

Katherine Ward, Trustee - Chair

Katherine is Chief Commercial Officer and MD, UK and Europe for Healthy.io a digital healthcare startup leveraging smartphone and cloud technology to offer access to the benefits of colour-based healthcare and medical imaging.

Katherine has worked in healthcare for 26 years: 15 years in the UK National Health Service in both provider and payer roles and 11 years with UnitedHealth Group where she was the Chief Executive of UnitedHealth UK and latterly the Chief Growth Officer for Optum International where she had responsibility for sales, account management and growth strategy.

 

Wol Kolade, Trustee

Wol is the Managing Partner of private equity investor Livingbridge. Wol holds a number of non-executive positions and he is a former Chairman of the British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association. He has been a Governor at the London School of Economics and Political Science since 2002. He became Chairman of the Charity in October 2015.

 

Tom Joy, Trustee

Tom is the Director of Investments at Church Commissioners for England. He began his career as a graduate trainee at Royal Sun Alliance Investment Management. He then joined Schroders and held a variety of different roles culminating in becoming Head of Investment – Multi-Manager. He chairs our Investment Committee and is also a Board member of the Pension Protection Fund.

 

Yasemin Saltuk Lamy, Trustee

Yasemin is the Deputy Chief Investment Officer for higher risk strategies at CDC Group. She previously covered Digital Identity and Innovation at Omidyar Network, and served in several roles at J.P. Morgan in London across derivatives and impact investing. Yasemin earned a Master of Science with merit in financial mathematics from King's College London.

 

Duncan Selbie, Trustee

Duncan is the founding Chief Executive of Public Health England. Prior to 2013, he was Chief Executive of Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals, the regional teaching hospital for the south east of England. From 2003 to 2007 he was the Director General of Programmes and Performance for the NHS and subsequently its first Director General of Commissioning. 

 

Ian Abbs, Guy's and St Thomas' NHS
Foundation Trust

Dr Ian Abbs is Medical Director, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. In addition to his clinical work, Ian was closely involved in work to integrate with Lambeth and Southwark community services.

 

Professor James Barlow, Imperial
College Business School

James was co-founder of the Innovation Studies Centre, and from 2006-2013 was Principal Investigator and a Director of the Health and Care Infrastructure Research and Innovation Centre (HaCIRIC).

 

Adrian McLachlan, Lambeth CCG

In addition to being the Chair of the Lambeth Clinical Commissioning Group, Adrian is a GP Partner at Hetherington Practice in Clapham where he has worked since 1989. He trained at Kings College in 1983, taking up a hospital based post in Plymouth before returning to London.

 

Geoff Alltimes, Hammersmith
& Fulham Council / NHS Hammersmith & Fulham

Geoff was formerly CEO of Hammersmith & Fulham Council and NHS Hammersmith & Fulham, having previously been the Director of Social Services and the honorary secretary of the Association of Directors of Social Services.

 

Paul Corrigan

Paul Corrigan is a former senior health adviser to Tony Blair and is an adjunct professor of health policy at Imperial College, London, and adjunct professor of public health at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

 

Prof. Yvonne Doyle, Public Health England

Yvonne's career highlights include: Director of Public Health for NHS South of England, advising the World Economic Forum, the EU and the World Bank on aspects of successful aging.

 

Nigel Edwards, Nuffield Trust

Nigel is Chief Executive at the Nuffield Trust. Prior to becoming this in 2014, he was an expert advisor with KPMG’s Global Centre of Excellence for Health and Life Sciences, and a Senior Fellow at The King’s Fund.

 

Dr Jonty Heaversedge, Southwark CCG

Jonty has been a GP in Southwark for 12 years. He is providing clinical leadership on the Community Based Care Workstream for the South East London Community Based Care Programme.

 

Mat Hunter, Central Research Laboratory

Mat Hunter is Managing Director at Central Research Laboratory. He was formerly Chief Design Officer at the Design Council.

 

Jen Hyatt, Troo Life Coach

Jen is a seasoned digital health entrepreneur and the founder and CEO of Troo Life Coach. She also founded and was CEO of Big White Wall, an award-winning online mental wellbeing service for people experiencing psychological distress.

 

Graham Thornicroft, King's College London

Graham is Professor of Community Psychiatry at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience at KCL. He also works as a Consultant Psychiatrist at South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.

 

Nick Timmins, The King's Fund

Nick, former Public Policy Commentator at the Financial Times, is working part-time at The King's Fund on a range of policy projects. He has led a joint piece of work with the Institute for Government using the NHS reforms as a case study of policy making in coalition government.

 

Rob Trimble, Bromley by Bow Centre

Rob has been Chief Executive of the Bromley by Bow Centre since 2002. He was awarded the British Empire Medal in the Queen’s 2018 New Year’s Honours list and is also a non-clinical Partner in the Bromley by Bow Health Partnership, which delivers primary care services to 30,000 patients in East London.

 

Tony Burton, Big Lottery Fund

Tony works on a wide range of community and environmental projects, including providing support for community groups on neighbourhood planning and as Executive Chair of Sustainable Homes. He is Vice Chair of Friends of the Earth and is also a trustee of TCV and mySociety. Tony founded Civic Voice in 2010 and has over twenty five years' experience on the Boards of national charities.

 

Nick Stanhope, Shift

Nick Stanhope is the Founder and CEO of Shift, a product design charity based in the UK and USA. He was formerly a youth and community worker and campaigner. 

 

Vinay Nair, Lightful

Vinay is co-founder and CEO of Lightful. He passionately believes that those doing the greatest work deserve the best technology. Vinay previously worked at Social and Sustainable Capital (SASC), Acumen Fund and the Clinton Foundation HIV/AIDS Initiative. He has launched two public health social enterprises, one in the UK and one in Mozambique. 

 

Annika Small OBE, CAST

Annika works to create a step-change in charities’ use of digital approaches in order to build a more resilient, responsive civil society.  Annika was awarded an OBE in 2018 for services to social innovation and digital technology.
